Mitch Williams: MLB never should have started Game 1 of Yankees-Tigers

MLB Network’s Mitch “Wild Thing” Williams joined the show to break down the playoffs. Here are some of his opinions:

— Williams commented on Game 3 of the Yankees-Tigers series. “I think it’s more important for the Yankees than the Tigers,” Williams said, “because CC Sabathia needs to win and take the pressure off Ivan Nova.”

— Williams can’t understand why MLB let Yankees-Tigers Game 1 start. He thinks it robbed fans of the best pitching matchup in the postseason.

— Williams is surprised Arizona manager Kirk Gibson pitched to the Brewers’ Prince Fielder. He thinks that mistake — that he’s made twice — has been one of the biggest differences in the series.

— Williams said the Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox were the two biggest disappointments this season. “There is no way in the world that shouldn’t have been a playoff team,” Williams said.

— Williams said the Brewers might be the most balanced team in the National League. He’s not sure if Milwaukee and Philly advance, he’s not sure who he’ll pick.
