Cal Ripken Jr. thinks drinking beer during a game ‘way overboard’

Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. joined the show to talk about the World Series and other big stories around baseball.

Ripken commented on the stories about the Red Sox drinking beer in the clubhouse. He said he would have never done that. “It’s a safety issue,” Ripken said. Of course, he pointed out he was on the field all the time. But Ripken had an issue with anyone drinking during a game in any fashion.

“I cringe when I hear someone admit that they did it,” Ripken said. “That doesn’t sound right to me. … That crosses the line. That goes way overboard. I can’t see that that’s all part of what stays in the clubhouse as a secret.”

Ripken thinks the World Series will be a deep series that the Rangers will pull out. He says that Texas will find a way to manufacture a run when it needs one.
