Rick Horton talks about Cardinals’ comeback and Albert Pujols’ future
FOX Sports Midwest Cardinals broadcaster Rick Horton joined the show to talk about the Cardinals’ dramatic Game 7 victory.
Horton said it’s hard to believe St. Louis has reached this point. “There’s been about five times we’ve been ready to write it’s been a good story [for the Cardinals,]” Horton said, “and then we’re ready to prepare for the offseason.”
Horton thinks the Cards’ midseason moves are the key reason they got so far. Picking up guys like Octavio Dotel and Edwin Jackson turned things around.
Horton talked about carry-over from Game 6 to Game 7. He said when he was with St. Louis in 1985, they suffered an emotional let-down against the Royals and lost badly.
Horton weighed in on the future of Albert Pujols. Horton said he’s already played up Pujols’ last-at-bat angle 10 times. But he thinks the Cardinals winning increases the chances Pujols will return to St. Louis. “I think the Cardinals would really want that to happen,” Horton said. “I think Albert really wants that to happen.”
