Bob Stoops says no momentum among coaches for playoff system

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops joined the show to talk about the Sooners’ loss to Baylor and more.

Stoops weighed in on Baylor QB Robert Griffin III. “He’s a great player,” Stoops said. “He’s a special one when you consider how well he runs with the ball.”

Dan asked Stoops if he thought there might be an eight-team playoff.

“I don’t think so,” Stoops said. “The timing of it with finals. The added games. Getting rid of bowl games. I don’t see a lot of momentum for that.”

Stoops said he thought 70 percent of coaches would vote against a final four playoff: “You have to remember these bowls are an experience for fans, your administration, your ticket staff … there’s only going to be one of those. You’re not going to do it each week. I don’t see a lot of momentum.”

Stoops said Thursday, Thanksgiving, is a regular work day for him. He said he gets home at 6 p.m. and eats with everyone. But he said it’s later in the week, so his gameplan is set, and he won’t have to go back to work.
