Justin Verlander says he thought he didn’t win MVP; pitchers should be eligible

Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander joined the show to talk about winning the Cy Young and MVP.

Verlander talked about the moment he found out he won the MVP.

“I was pretty surprised. I didn’t allow myself to think I would win it,” Verlander said. “I got the call 15 minutes after I got the call for the Cy Young. I had pretty much written it off.”

Verlander admitted he would have voted for himself. Although he had a lot of respect for the other candidates.

Verlander said if there was an award “Most Valuable Pitcher” then you could maybe rule pitchers out from the MVP. But as it is now, there’s no rule against it.
