Tom Verducci weighs in on issues with the new MLB labor agreement
Sports Illustrated’s Tom Verducci joined the show to talk about some of the details of the new MLB contract.
Verducci said there’s still a long way to go with in-season HGH testing, because the teams have too much flexibility.
Verducci also said that a new salary cap on the draft is a big problem for some teams. Especially if a team is trying to woo a two-sport athlete. For example, the Yankees had to give Austin Jackson a lot of money to keep him from playing basketball.
Verducci loves a one-game knock-out for the wild card. He said teams will complain, but if they couldn’t win the division in 162 games, what do they expect.
Verducci also weighed in on the Red Sox managing opening. He said Valentine is the front-runner. “I think he’s a good fit,” Verducci said.
