Troy Aikman on Manning criticism, Aaron Rodgers and Cam Newton
FOX’s Troy Aikman joined the show to talk about the big stories around the NFL.
Aikman talked about Archie Manning’s comments that he’s been unfair in his analysis of Eli.
“Eli hasn’t said anything to me,” Aikman said. “He’s 30 years old. If he’s got something to say to me, he can voice that. … Sometimes quarterbacks don’t play as well as their parents think they do.”
Aikman also talked about Aaron Rodgers’ incredible season. “You almost have to hope he has one of those games where he’s not throwing the ball particularly straight,” Aikman said.
Aikman pointed out that the guys around Rodgers are also playing at a very high level.
Dan asked Aikman our poll question — who has had a better season, Tebow or Newton?
“If I had to pick between those two, I’m really impressed by what Cam Newton has done,” Aikman said. “The question was can he throw the ball from the pocket effectively, and the answer is yes.”
Aikman talked about his alma mater UCLA. He thinks there’s no reason the Bruins shouldn’t be an elite program.
“There are some drawbacks to UCLA,” Aikman said. “There’s no stadium on campus. Cost of living for coaches.”
