Bobby Valentine talks about his managing style and what he expects in Boston

New Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine joined the show to talk about how he got the job.

Dan asked Valentine why he was so emotional during the press conference. He said he couldn’t control his emotions. “You don’t have that much chance in life to express true emotion in front of other people,” Valentine said.

Dan asked if he had to sell them or they sold him. Valentine said he had to sell them, and called himself a darkhorse early on.

That keeps coming up,” Valentine said. “I appreciate order and I have a healthy respect for the game. … But I’m sure things are going to be more similar than different.”

Valentine said don’t read too much into a manager’s personality. He said the talented guys on the field determines who wins.

Dan asked Valentine if he expects to be in the World Series. “Yes,” Valentine said.
