Chris Mannix says nixing Chris Paul trade was ‘pathetic’

Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix joined the show to talk about the NBA’s decision to nix the Chris Paul trade.

Mannix said that the NBA doesn’t have the right to do this. “David Stern has absolutely no justification,” Mannix said.

Mannix said that Chris Paul is currently exploring his legal options. Meanwhile, Mannix said that the Rockets wanting Pau Gasol was the key to getting this done.

“New Orleans never really wanted Pau Gasol,” Mannix said. “Houston was the team that really wanted him. They’re pursuing Nene and Samuel Dalembert.”

Mannix said that the Lakers gave up something real here. He said it’s not like the Knicks were getting Paul for Chauncey Billups.

Mannix also said the small-market owners have no right to complain.  “This is a pathetic black-mark on the league,” Mannix said.

Mannix thinks that New Orleans will not get a Paul deal done before the season.
