Chris Mannix said NBA approved Chris Paul trade to make Hornets attractive to buyers
SI.com’s Chris Mannix joined the show to talk about the Chris Paul trade and more.
Mannix said that the Hornets got some valuable pieces from the Clippers. He thinks that Eric Gordon has All-Star potential and they are setting up a situation with a lot of salary cap space. “No. 1 priority on the NBA’s list is selling that franchise,” Mannix said.
But Mannix doesn’t think the T-Wolves’ future pick will turn into a No. 1 overall pick. He thinks Minnesota is a little better than people think. Mannix believes it will turn into a No. 8-12 pick.
Mannix said the Lakers offer was all about making the Hornets better now. Mannix said the trade with the Clippers was more about “clearing the decks” which makes it more attractive to sell.
Mannix thinks the Clippers will be very exciting. He said that people there are calling it Lob City and Paul will make center DeAndre Jordan into Tyson Chandler when those two played together in New Orleans.
Re: Dwight Howard, Mannix thinks the Magic have to try to get Andrew Bynum if they’re going to do anything with the Lakers. Mannix thinks Bynum has a bigger upside than most people are saying right now.
