Christian Ponder says Vikings assured him they wouldn’t draft QB
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder joined the show to talk about his rookie season, some of the teams he faced that are now in the playoffs and the Vikings’ draft plans.
Dan asked Ponder if he’s been assured Minnesota won’t draft a quarterback. “I have been,” Ponder said. “I talked to our GM (Rick Spielman) yesterday.”
Ponder said that sometimes the game did get fast, but generally he had a positive review of his first year in the league. But he did run down some of the big hits he took and explained to Dan the difference between a hard hit and a concussion.
Dan asked Ponder that of the current playoff teams he faced, who stood out the most. “New Orleans and Green Bay definitely stand out,” Ponder said. And he said that he’d lean toward the Saints.
Ponder weighed in on Tim Tebow as well and said he deserved credit for the Broncos’ second-half run.
