Tim Kawakami said set-up is changing with Oakland Raiders

San Jose Mercury News’ Tim Kawakami joined the show to talk about new GM Reggie McKenzie firing coach Hue Jackson.

Kawakami said that Jackson’s brashness off the field hurt his chances. “He hasn’t been a guy other teams wanted to hire,” Kawakami said.

Kawakami said that this is a new situation in Oakland. The Raiders haven’t had a general manager. “This is going to be a GM-run franchise,” Kawakami said. “You’re not going after the Gruden’s or the Cowher’s.”

Kawakami said the Carson Palmer trade put them behind the 8-Ball because they don’t have good picks moving forward.
