Neil Leifer talks about shooting Ali

Sports Illustrated photographer Neil Leifer joined the show to talk about Muhammad Ali and more.

Leifer talked about how he got the iconic photo of Ali standing over Sonny Liston after knocking him out.

“I always point out that photograph, that was later written to be the greatest sports photo of the century, didn’t make the Sports Illustrated cover,” Leifer said.

Dan asked Neil if using digital cameras is cheating for sports photographers. Neil said no.”The digital cameras are just better,” Leifer said. “The best photographers are still shooting the best pictures.”

Dan asked Leifer which athletes have given him a hard time. He said the Red Sox’ Jim Rice was tough, as was boxer Larry Holmes.
