Shannon Sharpe says Pats offense won’t be same without Gronkowski

CBS NFL analyst Shannon Sharpe joined the show to talk about the Super Bowl and more.

Dan asked if New England tight end Rob Gronkowski is similar to him.

“[Patriots tight end Aaron] Hernandez is more similar to me,” Sharpe said. “Gronkowski is 265. I played with Garry Zimmerman. He weighed 280. Gronkowski is 15 pounds lighter thana [Hall of Fame lineman].”

Sharpe said that he’s not sure how effective the Pats offense will be without Gronk, because their offense is built around the tight ends.

Sharpe talked a lot about his brother Sterling. Shannon said he only played football because his brother did. He said in high school, he was better in basketball and track.

Sharpe compared himself to Eli Manning in the sense he was in the shadow of his older brother. Sharpe said that Eli may have to elevate his play now that Peyton could be done.
