Elton Brand says lack of ego key to 76ers’ success

Sixers forward Elton Brand joined guest host Chris Mannix to talk about their surprising success this season.

Brand said that the team was excited to go through what coach Doug Collins called “death row” — a ridiculously tough schedule. Philly did well and Brand said now they’re more confident.

Brand shared the key to their success. “We put egos aside to win ball games,” Brand said. He said a lot of guys on the team could score more points, but they share the ball.

Brand also said playing together in Los Angeles over the summer during the lockout really helped and now they’re a tight-knit team. Brand, however, did say that it’s tough to recover with the condensed schedule.

Brand also commented on Kobe Bryant’s legacy.  “It’s not just his athleticism that he had when he was younger,” Brand said. “Now it’s his cerebral game.”
