Phil Simms on Manningham and Welker plays in Super Bowl
CBS NFL analyst Phil Simms joined the show to break down the Super Bowl. Here are some of his takes:
— Simms said it was a “very good” Super Bowl. Simms said some of the small things, like tackling, don’t get noted.
— Simms had an interesting comment on Mario Manningham’s dramatic fourth-quarter catch. He said he Hakeem Nicks wide open 10 yards down field. He also noticed Sterling Moore didn’t touch Manningham at the line.
— Simms said that Tom Brady didn’t throw the pass to Wes Welker as hard as you typically throw a seam pass. Welker mistimed his jump.
— Simms couldn’t understand why Bill Parcells didn’t make the Hall of Fame. He hinted it had something to do with the media not liking him. “He was a tough guy,” Simms said. But Simms believes he’ll make it next year.
