Bianchi: Magic can’t let Howard walk without compensation
Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi joined the show to talk about Dwight Howard’s future.
Bianchi thinks it’s a bit ridiculous that the Magic think they can work on getting Howard to stick around the rest of the season. “He’s been in Orlando 7 1/2 years and they’re going to convince him in half a season,” Bianchi said.
Bianchi said that the Magic can’t let Howard go without getting anything. “That decision by Shaq 15 years ago when he walked out of here and the Magic didn’t get anything … that still haunts the fans.”
Bianchi said with the new collective bargaining agreement, Howard probably won’t need to do a sign-and-trade. He can just to go his new team without weakening them. Bianchi thinks that Howard probably expects to be a free agent.
