Brian Billick weighs in on how Ravens’ incentives for hard hits
Dan asked Billick his reaction to the news about the Saints. “Both surprised and inquisitive,” Billick said. “Until we see the sanctions, were not going to know what the purpose of this was.”
Billick, however, doesn’t think a lot of players were trying to knock guys out. “I don’t think the majority of the players would willffully try to hurt someone, but tempers can flare.”
“I think the sanctions are going to be severe,” Billick said. Billick said that it’s not fair that the Saints take the brunt of it, but that’s life.
Billick said the Ravens had their form of bounties. They were always saying, who’s going to get the next big hit, etc. Billick said that players exchanged moneys. But he said he’s never been around a situation where coaches put up the money or endorsed it that way.
