Cathal Kelly explains recent criticism of Sidney Crosby

Toronto Star columnist Cathal Kelly joined the show to talk about recent criticism of Sidney Crosby

Kelly explained why people are ripping Crosby of late. “There have always been different rules for the top players in the NHL,” Kelly said. “But now I realize the old guard thinks Sidney Crosby is a danger to the game. Some would like to be him diminished so it cannot be used against hockey if he is forced out of hockey.”

Kelly said that they’re very worried about the image of Crosby being carried off on a stretcher.

Kelly said that the old guard is now talking about Steve Stamkos as the best player in the NHL.  “They’re trying to push the mantle on to Stamkos’ head,” Kelly said.

Dan asked if there’s a cover-up in the NHL of concussion problems. “I think a huge cover-up,” Kelly said. “And most of the cover-up comes down to the players.”
