Josh Hamilton talks about PEDs, his contract status, relapse

Texas Rangers star Josh Hamilton joined the show to talk about his scorching start to the season. He’s hitting .390 with 8 HRs.

Hamilton said PEDs are no longer a big part of the game. He said that he came up with Rays and thought guys were inflated. But he doesn’t see that any more. He said players are smaller.

Hamilton said PEDs are important mainly for helping you recover. He says it’s challenging to get ready. “They didn’t do it back in the day,” Hamilton said. “They’re not doing it today. You find ways.”

Hamilton commented on not getting a new contract yet. He said a relapse in the offseason may have cost him. Hamilton said that he doesn’t want to be involved in every detail.

Hamilton talked very honestly about his relapse. He said sometimes you just go in the wrong direction. “You kind of forget for a little period of time what kind of chaos it caused in your life and consequences that came from it,” Hamilton said. “Then you say OK, and boom, you’re back.”
