Charles Barkley annoyed by Blake Griffin’s flopping, says Spurs will beat Clippers

TNT NBA analyst Charles Barkley joined the show to talk about

— Barkley said that Clippers star Blake Griffin’s flopping is annoying him.

“Blake Griffin has turned into the new Vince Carter. He gets shot three or four times a game.

Barkley said that guys are going to start Griffin for real because they’ll figure he’s going to flop anyway.

— Barkley said that he doesn’t think that Phil Jackson won’t return to coaching. “I think Phil Jackson is too old,” Barkley said. “I don’t think basketball coaching is for 70-year-old guys.”

— Barkley said the gameplan the Clippers are using to beat the Grizzlies will never work against the Spurs. “San Antonio is going to kill the Clippers if they play that way,” Barkley said.

— Barkley couldn’t pick a winner in a Thunder-Lakers series yet. “That’s a toss-up series,” Barkley said. “I don’t like Oklahoma City’s halfcourt offense.

— Barkley thinks LeBron James should be taking the last-second shot for Miami. Barkley said that LeBron closed all the time in Cleveland. “I hate the fact that he defers,” Barkley said.

— Barkley thinks LeBron had trouble closing in the Finals last year is because he got tired.

Dan and Barkley discussed Cole Hamels beaning Bryce Harper. Barkley said that in the NBA, sometimes the veterans do test the rookies. He told a great story about Maurice Lucas hitting him early in his career. “I almost started crying he hit me so hard,” Barkley said.

Barkley said that Moses Malone told him to hit Lucas back. Barkley hit him back and Lucas said to him afterward that he was just seeing what he was made of.
