Brent Barry weighs in on heated play in Miami-Indy series

NBA Network analyst Brent Barry joined the show to talk about the NBA playoffs and last night’s chippy Heat-Pacers game.

“The way the Heat have played the last couple of games makes you turn your head and realize how great Dwyane Wade and LeBron James [can be],” Barry said.

Barry said that there is a smarter way to play chippy basketball. “Some of the smartest players who do play dirty get away with it away from the ball,” Barry said.

Barry thinks Dexter Pittman’s hit was worthy of a suspension. “There’s a difference between physical play and sheer stupidity,” Barry said.

Barry also weighed in on the Orlando situation. He said Stan Van Gundy did a great job in Orlando and changed the way the NBA approached three-pointers. He had his guys throw up a lot of threes, with Dwight Howard anchoring the middle.

Barry commented on the Lakers as well, and said that people are being too tough on Pau Gasol. Barry said that the Lakers didn’t really get him in the right place in the playoffs. The Lakers changed their system and there was no place for Gasol.
