Mike Florio on replacement officials, Saints evidence, Tim Tebow
Profootballtalk.com’s Mike Florio joined the show to talk about the big stories around the League. Here are some of his takes:
— Florio weighed in on the officials and the possibility the NFL will hire replacements. He said that right now people complain about the officials, and they don’t realize that this is the best of the best. And there’s another reason officials are important right now. “The NFL expects the officials to be the guy son the front line of the concussion fight,” Florio said.
Florio thinks that the NFL is moving toward full-time officials. “They need to create the sense they’re doing everything they can to get every call right,” Florio said.
— Florio also talked about the NFL’s evidence against the Saints. He said that one problem is that the NFL only gives its spin of the evidence — not all the evidence. And Florio pointed to a game against the Panthers with payments, in which only one Carolina player got hurt, and that was linebacker Thomas Davis.
— Florio talked about Tim Tebow going to Mark Sanchez’ West Coast practices. “This is all about Mark Sanchez and getting him focused,” Florio said. “The Jets win if it makes Sanchez reach the limits of his ability.”
— Florio weighed in on the Jaguars’ Justin Blackmon. He said that he wonders if you blow a .24, the team has to wonder if there was a problem before.
