Johnny Miller says other announcers afraid to be critical

NBC golf analyst Johnny Miller joined the show to preview next week’s U.S. Open.

Miller talked about pressure on the biggest athletes, like Tiger Woods. He said that announcers avoid talking about choking: “It’s amazing to me most announcers don’t talk about the ‘choke factor,’ which is why sports is sports.”

Miller said that in the past, control players have done well at Olympic. “You have so much slope on the fairways and the greens, long hitters don’t have any advantage,” Miller said. “Olympic is a very tough test.”

Miller likes Tiger because he’s a Californian, who usually do well in California, but he’s not ready to pick Tiger.
