Dale Earnhardt Jr. talks about winning in Michigan, his childhood aspirations

Dale Earnhardt Jr. joined the show to talk about his victory at Michigan and much more.

Earnhardt talked about race day and said there was problems with his tires blistering leading up to the race. He said that everyone was cautious at first. “We looked like a bunch of old ladies going down the highway,” Earnhardt Jr. But he said when the race began, he felt like he had different tires then everyone else.

Earnhardt said that he kept thinking someone was going to catch him. Then at some point he realized that he had the fast car that day.

Dan asked Earnhardt what he thought he was going to be when he was a kid. “I was going to be a mechanic in a dealership, changing your oil when you brought your car to me,” Earnhardt said.

Earnhardt said that he knew who his dad was and worked on coming to peace with not being a race car driver. But he always wanted more.

Dan asked Earnhardt if he thinks he’ll win the Cup this year. He said that he expects to be in the mix.
