Paul Finebaum says last year’s title game helped bring about change

Radio host Paul Finebaum joined the show to share his take on the new college football playoff system.

Finebaum said that he thinks that the Alabama-LSU title game is one of the reasons the organizers of the sport moved on this change. He said that the regular-season matchup between the Tide and the Tigers was so much more impressive and people noticed what a letdown the title game was.

Dan asked Finebaum if the new system will help the SEC. “The early read is it helps the SEC,” Finebaum said. “You have to assume the SEC being the best league will [do well].”

Finebaum also explained some of the mixed reaction to the death of the BCS. “Some of the antagonism against the BCS was over the top,” Finebaum said. “It was just the easiest thing to take a shot at.”
