Pablo Torre says Jeremy Lin wanted to be in New York
Sports Illustrated’s Pablo Torre joined the show to talk about Jeremy Lin leaving New York for Houston.
Torre said from the outset the Knicks told him that they were pursuing other point guards. So Lin didn’t know how he fit in. Then Lin said when he read that the Knicks signed Raymond Felton, he first realized he may not be in New York any more.
Torre explained that Lin really wanted to go back to NYC. He was pushed to go to the market because of the Knicks’ acts.
Torre thinks that Lin has never been about money. Torre said that Lin turned down sponsorships last year because he was focusing on basketball.
Torre was also surprised that Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith had negative comments about the money Lin is making. He said that players never criticize other players for making money. And he said the union has to be particularly peeved at those comments.
