Mike Holmgren on coaching Favre, players lying to get on the field

Browns president Mike Holmgren joined the show to talk about his offseason and being inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame.

Dan asked Holmgren about Troy Polamalu’s comment he lied to get back into the game. “That’s the nature of the beast,” Holmgren said. “Most of the players I’ve coached, they want to play.”

Holmgren said you can tell with quarterbacks, so he doesn’t think that Brett Favre lied too much. Holmgren told a story about when Favre came out of the game with a cut, and the trainer approached him to tell him about the injury. Holmgren’s question was “how much is he bleeding?” Holmgren admits that was the wrong question.

Holmgren admitted when he got to Green Bay  he thought he was never going to win. Holmgren said than Favre came in and they started winning.

Dan asked Holmgren about Favre’s split with the Packers. He said eventually they’ll mend this rift. “Time heals most things,” Holmgren said.
