Phil Simms on Mike Wallace, Maurice Jones-Drew and Jets QB situation
CBS’ Phil Simms joined the show to talk about training camps opening around the nation.
Simms weighed in on Mike Wallace holding out in Pittsburgh. He said you can never recreate what happens on the field and worries about guys who don’t show up health-wise.
Simms also likes the addition of offensive coordinator Todd Haley. He said Bruce Arians was great and will do well in Indy, but Haley fits better with head coach Mike Tomlin. Simms said with Haley and guys like that, you always know who’s the coach and who’s the player.
Simms commented on Maurice Jones-Drew’s contract issues. Simms said that Jones-Drew should hold out if he thinks he can make more. Simms doesn’t like the trend with running backs where you pay them once and then use ’em up.
Simms talked about the Jets quarterback situation. Simms basically said Mark Sanchez will have to be spectacular and win for people to not start chanting for Tim Tebow.
