Richard Deitsch previews Olympics, role of Twitter in London

Sports Illustrated’s Richard Deitsch joined the show to preview the 2012 Olympics.

Deitsch said the biggest locks are the U.S. women’s basketball team and the Chinese table tennis team.

Deitsch talked about the possibility of eventually going back to younger players on the men’s basketball team. He said if that happened, and they lost, it wouldn’t take long until people called for the stars again.

Deitsch said the controversy around the South Korean flag flying behind the North Korean team has been a bona fide issue. But Deitsch said that there isn’t much to write about yet, so reporters are focusing on this. Deitsch also said you can count on people getting in trouble on Twitter. Deitsch said Twitter is a “loaded gun” and the media is ready to jump on athletes who write something controversial.
