Ron Washington compares Rangers’ approach to Josh Hamilton to Cowboy and Dez Bryant

Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington joined the show to talk about their season and much more.

Dan asked Washington about the Cowboys having special rules for Dez Bryant like they do with Josh Hamilton. Washington said that they’re worth going the extra mile for: “Hamilton is special. Dez is special. Organizations will go the extra mile because it’s a special person.”

Washington explained why people like this need the extra help. “You know each and every day they’re waking up and they’re fighting demons,” Washington said.

Washington said that Hamilton was challenged by his struggles on the field and he met the challenge. Now he’s out of that valley.

Dan asked if Hamilton will retire a Ranger. “I certainly hope he does,” Washington said. “I know Nolan Ryan and Jon Daniels and our ownership will do their part to make sure Josh Hamilton stays here.”

Washington talked about trying to put a positive spin on losing the World Series. He said at least they were there and second place is better than third or fourth.
