Russell Wilson talks about earning starting job for Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson joined the show to talk about starting in his rookie season.

Wilson described his feelings after coach Pete Carroll told him he had the job: “Everybody said I was too short. Couldn’t play int he National Football League. I’ve put in all this hard work. … Coming here to play for the Seattle Seahawks is a dream come true.”

Wilson said he didn’t doubt he’d get his shot. “I knew I was ready to start,” Wilson said. “I knew I was ready to lead this football team.”

Dan asked about his relationship with fellow quarterback Matt Flynn. “It’s a good relationship,” Wilson siad. “We’re working for one goal, and that’s to win.”

Dan asked Wilson where he’d say he was from in his intro. He said he’ll go with Richmond and needs a nickname. Maybe “WolfBadger.”
