Mike Florio on RGIII’s debut, Packers’ struggles and Saints ruling

Profootballtalk.com and NBC NFL analyst Mike Florio joined the show to talk about Week 1 in the NFL.

Florio was amazed by several facets of Robert Griffin III’s performance. He said that was incredible to do it in a hostile New Orleans stadium. He said he was also surprised that Mike Shanahan showed so much flexibility in the way he created the offense with RGIII.

Florio commented on the Packers’ loss to the Niners as a very impactful one. Florio said there were signs Green Bay was struggling in the preseason. Florio said the Niners looked great, but the question is can Alex Smith do it in a big moment late in the year.

Florio talked about the decision to overturn the penalties on the Saints players. Florio doesn’t understand why this wasn’t done two months ago, because the basic decision had already been made.

Florio also weighed in on the controversial call on Denver TE Jacob Tamme’s goalline catch. Florio explained how a player has to complete a catch.
