David Shaw explains why he didn’t see Stanford’s win over USC as upset
Stanford coach David Shaw joined the show to talk about their win over USC on Saturday.
Dan asked what he thinks of people calling this a big upset. “In our mentality, it’s not an upset,” Shaw said. “We’re on equal footing on every team we play.”
Shaw talked about how they actually got the win. “Our defense played great,” Shaw said. “Our offense did just enough until we got the running game going in the fourth quarter.”
Shaw said he knew they had to pressure USC quarterback Matt Barkley. And he said they’ve worked on getting a lot of talent in their defensive backfield.
Shaw said that they haven’t changed the gameplan with Andrew Luck gone. He said they’ve shaved off a bit, but it’s the same philosophy.
