Tom Verducci weighs in on MVP races, Bobby Valentine

Sports Illustrated MLB writer Tom Verducci joined the show to talk about the awards races and more.

Verducci weighed in on the NL MVP race. He said you can’t rule out the possibility voters will hold last year’s PED controversy against Ryan Braun. Verducci doesn’t think they should, but it’s human nature.

Verducci said it will be very close between Braun and Buster Posey. Verducci said that Posey gets credit for being a catcher.

Verducci said winning the Triple Crown won’t guarantee MVP for Miguel Cabrera. Verducci thinks that September numbers is the real reason Cabrera could pass Mike Trout.

That being said, Verducci thinks Trout is incredible. “I think he’s the best player in baseball,” Verducci said, noting that he impacts the game in so many ways.

Verducci weighed in on the Red Sox. He said there’s a chance Bobby Valentine could come back, but it’s more likely they won’t.
