Brian Kelly talks about rebuilding Notre Dame’s defense
Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly joined the show to talk about the upcoming game against Michigan and more.
Dan asked what he prioritized when he got to Notre Dame. “The biggest need was to shore up a defense that was not of championship caliber,” Kelly said. “We’re getting closer. “
Dan asked Kelly which was more important to winning a title, offense or defense. “I think it’s been proven it’s about your defense,” Kelly said. “LSU and Alabama have arguably had the two best teams the last couple of years.”
Dan asked Kelly to rate his defense. “It’s a top 20 team,” Kelly said. “We’re still a little thin in the defensive backfield.”
Kelly said that it’s hard to stop Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson because if you try to stop the run, he’ll hurt you with his arm.
Kelly talked about how different it is recruiting for Notre Dame because his players don’t know the history of the school. They don’t know Joe Theismann and they don’t know Lou Holtz coached there.
