Former NFL official says final play of Packers-Seahawks was ‘obvious’ interception

NBC NFL rules analyst and former Super Bowl official Jim Daopoulos joined the show to talk about the end of the Seahawks-Packers game.

Dan asked Daopoulus what should have been called. Daopoulus said they should have called pass interference on Golden Tate. And then “it was very obvious it was an interception.”

“This should have been handled differently,” Daopoulos said.

Daopoulus said they can review possession of a simultaneous catch, but they didn’t reverse it.

Daopoulus thinks they really need the regular officials back on the field. “The NFL officials are ready to work,” Daopoulos said.

Daopoulos commented on Bill Belichick grabbing the arm of an official. He said that he thinks Belichick was trying to get his attention to see if the play could be reviewed: “I don’t think grabbing the officials arm was done in anger … he was just trying to get their attention.”
