John Lynch explains end of Bucs-Saints; says Newton should ‘grow up’

FOX’s John Lynch joined the show to talk about the big stories around the NFL.

Lynch weighed in on the controversial Bucs-Saints finish. Lynch said that he was coached to push the player out of bounds in the end zone if the quarterback breaks the pocket. The rule exists because the offense can block defensive guys in that position. Lynch had a problem with the ambiguity because it’s confusing to know if the QB is out of the pocket.

“On that particular play they got it right,” Lynch said.

Dan asked Lynch what he would tell Cam Newton. “Grow up,” Lynch said. Lynch said mature quarterbacks never blame anyone else.

“Your teammates are watching you and the nature of that position is that you’re the leader of this team,” Lynch said of Newton’s postgame behavior.
