Johnny Manziel talks about being recruited by Oregon, beating 'Bama and which NFL QB he should be compared to

Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel joined the show to talk about his great season and more.

Dan said it’s a relief we can finally hear him talk to the media.“I’m glad I can finally talk to you and let you know who I really am,” Manziel said.

But Manziel said after this season he’s not nervous talking to the media. “If you can go into Alabama and play with any kind of success with that crowd,” Manziel said, “you can almost conquer the world.” Not by coincidence, Manziel said he watched the movie 300 before the game to get fired up.

Manziel talked about being recruited by Oregon. He said that was his first recruiting trip and he loved Eugene, Ore. But in the end, he wanted to stay closer to home and his sister, who is in high school

But Manziel said it was tough to tell Ducks coach Chip Kelly that he wasn’t going there. “Chip is a guy I still respect just as much as anybody in the country,” Manziel said.

Manziel said that he reached out to Texas. He said Texas wanted him to be a defensive back, and at the time, he was fine with that.

Dan asked Manziel if Alabama players talked trash. Manziel actually said that the Tide players were very polite and didn’t say a thing — they just battled.

Manziel said that he is most often compared to Doug Flutie. But Manziel said that he thinks he should be compared to Brett Favre as well. Manziel said he is exactly 6-feet tall.
