Russell Wilson says he's not surprised by rookie success

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson joined the show to talk about his great rookie season.

Dan asked if he was surprised by how well he’s doing this year. “I’m not surprised at all,” Wilson said. “My dad always told me don’t be afraid to excel.

Dan asked Wilson if the ‘Hawks are the best team in the NFC West. “I believe we are,” Wilson said. “We have the ability to do a lot of things offensively, defensively and on special teams.”

Dan asked which QB Wilson looks up to. “Drew Brees,” Wilson said. “His height. What he stands for. I watch tons of film of him and try to mimic my game after him.”

Wilson said that Brees, Tom Brady and quarterbacks have common traits that a young QB should emulate. He pointed to leadership as a big one.

Dan asked if Seattle ran up the score against Arizona. “No, not at all,” Wilson said. “We played a great game. We did great things on special teams and defense.”
