Julius Erving says NBA robbing ABA players by not counting stats

Julius Erving joined the show to talk about retirement and the new documentary on his life.

Erving had some very interesting comments on the NBA’s refusal to add ABA stats to players’ official line. He said that several big Hall of Fame players are shortchanged.

“For generations to come, when they don’t see those stats they really dillute the status of a dozen or more players who have been significant contributors to the game of basketball,” Erving said.

Erving also talked about how stars are now bigger than ever. Dr. J thinks part of the reason is that coaches used to be the only ones who spoke after the game. He thinks that’s part of the reason stars’ power has increased.
