Peter King talks about Chip Kelly, Johnny Manziel, Patriots and new web site

Sports Illustrated and TheMMQB.com‘s Peter King (@PeterKingSI) joined the show to talk about the big offseason storylines.

King said that there’s more anticipation for Chip Kelly’s transition to the NFL than there has been for a college coach since Jimmie Johnson in 1989.

“You don’t know what Chip Kelly is going to do,” King said. He said that everything has been quite about what the Eagles are going to do, and he knows Kelly is employing this sports science guy.

King also weighed in on Johnny Manziel. King thought what Manziel did at Manning Passing Camp, it was very irresponsible and seemed like a certain red flag to him. But King thinks that Manziel will have a good chance in the NFL because of Russell Wilson. He said that short quarterbacks can now make it.

King talked about the Patriots and how they’ll be different without all those offensive weapons. But King thinks they have to trust Tom Brady. And if Danny Amendola can stay healthy, then they’ll be good. King had a surprising take on Aaron Hernandez. He said that the Pats actually got a lot out of Hernandez considering he was a fourth-round pick. King also thinks Tim Tebow will make the team as a “utility” player.

King explained talked about his new site www.themmqb.com and how it will be different than what he was doing for SI.com. King said that he really wants to take people behind the scenes and force people to view the sport in a different way.
