Taysom Hill on Missionary experience, Heisman hopes

BYU quarterback Taysom Hill joined the show to talk about his great season in Provo. Here are some of his takes:

— Hill talked about how he got engaged. Right after his bowl game he flew to his now wife’s family home in Texas and had everything est up to surprise her in a gazebo.

— Hill talked about his missionary work in Australia: “I’d like to think my experience as a missionary gave me a lot of experience to be in a situation like this. I feel very mature. I do think I would have handled it similarly. But not as mature as I am now.

— Hill on how he got the name Taysom: “There’s a park and a construction company in Pocatello named Taysom Construction. It just kind of stuck.”

— Dan asked Hill if he is similar to Tim Tebow. “Um …. not really,” Hill said. Hill said he’s a Tebow fan but he doesn’t try to be like anyone.

— Hill said that he wants to play quarterback in the NFL even though some people think he could move to another position. “Right now my mentality is to play quarterback,” Hill said.

— Hill said that he he’d prefer to pass but will run to help the team: “I do those things because I think it gives our team the best chance to win football games. A lot of people say 26 carries against Houston … was that too many? I’ll say I’ll do whatever it takes to win.”
