Do you agree with Warren Moon on Cam Newton?
Dan discussed Warren Moon’s recent comments defending Cam Newton from some harsh criticism by Pro Football Weekly analyst Nolan Nawrocki. Moon claimed there were racist elements to what Nawrocki said about Newton. Here’s a snippet of what Moon told CBSSports.com’s Mike Freeman:
“A lot of the criticism he’s receiving is unfortunate and racially based,” Moon told Freeman. “I thought we were all past this. I don’t see other quarterbacks in the draft being criticized by the media or fans about their smile or called a phony. He’s being held to different standards from white quarterbacks. I thought we were past all this stuff about African-American quarterbacks, but I guess we’re not.”
Dan did have an issue with Moon saying critics are after Newton on not being able to make the transition from a spread offense to the NFL, while they gave Colt McCoy a pass. Dan pointed out that McCoy went in the third round. And critics were all over Tim Tebow for the same reason.
