Troy Aikman breaks down NFL divisional playoffs

FOX’s Troy Aikman joined the show to talk about the divsional round of the NFL playoffs. He called the Giants’ win over the Packers. Here are some of his takes:

— Aikman said that during the week, the Packers were in a somber mood because of the passing of  offensive coordinator and he thinks that could have had an impact.

“Even against Kansas City, they played better than they did yesterday,” Aikman said. “For them to have their worst game in a playoff game. Very disappointing.”

— Aikman said that Eli Manning’s performance made the question about whether he was an elite quarterback seem ridiculous.

Overall, he thinks the Giants have really answered the critics. “They’re not the Giants some people were looking at in the middle of the year,” Aikman said.

— Dan asked why now for Alex Smith. Aikman said that it helps to have a coach that understands quarterbacks, referring to coach Jim Harbaugh. Also, Harbaugh’s style fits this team. Aikman said that Smith told him this about his coach: “It’s about football. We’re not getting a motivational speech every day of the week.”

— Aikman said the Broncos should be very happy with what Tim Tebow achieved this year, but he wonders about their future without a true passing attack.
