Peter Gammons evaluates Prince Fielder and Tim Lincecum deals
MLB Network’s Peter Gammons joined the show to talk about the Prince Fielder deal and more.
Gammons actually thinks that the Angels
“The Angels needed that offense even more than the Tigers in the middle of their lineup,” Gammons said. “Plus the reality is, it got them the TV deal. So much today is about the regional networks.”
Gammons also weighed in the Giants signing ace Tim Lincecum to a two-year deal. Gammons said that signing pitchers has a lot to do with how long you think the pitcher can last.
“I think it’s a great deal for the Giants,” Gammons said. “Signing a pitcher to a five-year deal is very difficult. Insurance is very hard to get.” Gammons noted that the Red Sox currently have a lot of problems getting insurance for their big-ticket players, like John Lackey.
