Michael Irvin ranks top four QBs in NFL, weighs in on Peyton’s future

NFL Network analyst Michael Irvin joined the show to talk about the Super Bowl and more. Here are some of his takes:

— Irvin thinks that it looks bleak for Peyton Manning to return to Indianapolis. Irvin said he was encouraged that the Colts hire defensive-minded Chuck Pagano, implying Manning would stay to run the offense. But Irvin isn’t so sure. “There’s so much change,” Irvin said. “Head coaches want to put their name on the team.”

But Irvin said that if he was Chuck Pagano, he’d want Peyton to stick around for two more years.

— Here’s how Irvin ranks the quarterbacks.

1. Aaron Rodgers

2. Tom Brady (Irvin said Drew Brees throws for yards, Brady throws for trophies.)

3. Drew Brees

4. Eli Manning

— Irvin said Bill Belichick and Tom Brady could stake a claim as the greatest ever. If the Giants win, Irvin thinks Eli is making a huge difference in his legacy.

— Irvin said the Cowboys didn’t have a curfew the early days at the Super Bowl. Irvin said it was ridiculous to think that you could travel to a party — where your the host — and expect people the players to dabble.

— Dan asked Irvin for fashion advice for handing out the trophy. Irvin said that Dan won’t play a role people remember, so just be conservative.
