Mitch Williams: Watch out for Blue Jays, Nationals

MLB Network’s Mitch Williams joined the show to talk about the first week of the season.

Dan asked some sleeper teams to watch. Williams pointed to Toronto and Washington.

“Toronto could be a team that flies under the rada right up until September,” Williams said.

Williams said that he picked the Philadelphia Phillies to win the NL East, but now he thinks the pressure on the starting staff might be too much, since they can’t hit. He also said that their bullpen is going to have to be flawless, and we’re not seeing a lot of flawless bullpens around baseball.

Williams said he had the Boston Red Sox as an AL wild card team, but changed that when closer Andrew Bailey got hurt. Williams said he once played for Bobby Valentine in Texas, and had trouble with him back then. But he said both he and Valentine have grown up.
