Shawn Arnell says Arkansas fans defended Petrino until details emerged
Arkansas radio host Shawn Arnell (KARN Radio, Sports Animal 920) joined the show to talk about Bobby Petrino being fired.
“Fans like that he had a motorcycle accident and showed up at practices,” Petrino said. “Fans liked that persona.”
Arnell said that at first they were getting phone calls to their station defending Petrino. But when the details came out, fans realized Petrino had to go.
Petrino said that UAB coach Garrick McGee is at the top of most people’s radar as the new coach for Arkansas. McGee was a longtime Petrino assistant.
