Kirk Cousins talks about QB competition with Redskins

New Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins joined the show to talk about being drafted and being on the team with Robert Griffin III.

Cousins said Mike Shanahan called him and said that he was just too good to pass up. “This was a surprising pick to me as well,” Cousins said. “My job is to help the Redskins win football games.”

Cousins talked about how he plans to approach the competition with Griffin. “I think it’s very important that Robert, myself, we handle this thing the right way,” Cousins said. “I think the important thing is that we’re not competing against one another.”

Cousins said that it’s hard to evaluate college quarterbacks, because you have to take into account the pieces around the QB and the competition. Cousins said that’s why there are still misses even though teams put in so much work.
